More information

Discover the Story of Denmark at the National Museum. Meet the Vikings’ mystical sorceress - sought out by both gods and mortals to understand their fate. While many associate the Viking Age with the voyages of men, it was the Völvas who held such powerful forces that even Odin, the king of the gods, turned to them for guidance. Step into the spiritual world of the Vikings and let the Völva guide you on a journey toward the end of the world. At the National Museum, you’ll step into the story of Denmark — from the first humans over 10,000 years ago to the first Dane in space. History connects us all. The museum holds unique objects and testimonies of both triumphs and tragedies—not only from Denmark, but from across the globe. Here you’ll find everything from golden treasures and runestones to artefacts brought back from expeditions to faraway lands—and now, even from outer space. The museum is for all ages, with free admission for children.
